Azam Media scales up capacity with Eutelsat to expand African Pay-TV Offer

Azam Media, owned by Tanzanian conglomerate Bakhresa Group, is ramping up satellite capacity through a new transponder leased on the powerful EUTELSAT 7B satellite. Complementing capacity used on the copositioned EUTELSAT 7A satellite, it will host new services for the rapidly growing AzamTV pay-TV platform. The contract was announced today at Cabsat Dubai.

The EUTELSAT 8 West B satellite of Eutelsat Communications is in the final stretch of manufacturing and on track for launch by an Ariane 5 rocket in mid-2015. Eutelsat Communications announces the successful launch of the EUTELSAT 115 West B satellite. The 2.2-tonne all-electric satellite built by Boeing was lofted into orbit on 1 March at 10.50 EST (03.50 UTC). It separated from the Falcon 9 launcher after a 35-minute flight, with telemetry subsequently received and processed at Boeing’s mission control centre in El Segundo, California.
