- M6 4K to broadcast FIFA World Cup 2026™ tournament matches live and in Ultra High Definition via FRANSAT
- Showcasing the importance of satellite as a sustainable complement to terrestrial networks, when ensuring nationwide access to television
Paris, 4th June 2026- The M6 Group will broadcast FIFA World Cup 2026™ tournament matches live and in Ultra High Definition via FRANSAT, Eutelsat's Eutelsat (ISIN: FR0010221234 – Euronext Paris / London Stock Exchange: ETL) free-to-air DTH satellite platform for French DTT channels.
Thanks to the extensive coverage of the EUTELSAT 5 West B satellite, viewers across mainland France will be able to enjoy the event in outstanding picture quality, without reception or bandwidth constraints. This event highlights the essential role of satellite technology as a complement to terrestrial networks in ensuring universal access to television services nationwide.
From June 11 to July 19, 2026, viewers equipped with compatible FRANSAT UHD satellite equipment will be able to watch the matches broadcast in 4K UHD on M6 4K, available on channel 56 of the FRANSAT platform.
The coverage will enable viewers throughout mainland France, including areas less well served by terrestrial networks, to enjoy the event in exceptional quality. Satellite technology ensures universal coverage as well as reliable and stable reception quality, both of which are essential during major live sporting events that bring audiences together.
This initiative also demonstrates the strategic role of satellite technology in complementing audiovisual broadcasting infrastructures and enabling universal access to Ultra High-Definition television content.
Lydia Gaillard Faghihy, CEO of FRANSAT, said: “FRANSAT is delighted to support the M6 Group in bringing the FIFA World Cup 2026™ to viewers across France in 4K-UHD quality. This broadcast perfectly illustrates the essential role of satellite technology in ensuring reliable and consistent access to major television events throughout the country.”
